The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for human resource operational activities supporting the Human Resources team.  The Human Resources Specialist will work closely with the HR Business Partners across multiple locations to provide consistent and consolidated support for employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Managers and Payroll to process electronic data submissions of employee hires and data changes in Workday HRIS.
  • Lead onboarding activities for new employees– orientation, new hire paperwork, badge, time and attendance and building access.
  • Process employee personnel files and documentation.
  • Receive and respond to employee inquiries regarding processes with in scope of role (new hire, termination, policy interpretation, leave of absence, etc) and properly escalate all others.
  • Conduct annual compliance reporting (AAP, EEO, Vets-100).
  • Manage various employee programs including leave of absence (FMLA, paid parental leave, company disability program administration, consolidation of leave time accruals b/w e-time & 3rd party vendor), tuition reimbursement programs and benefits enrollment communications.  
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of federal & state laws that impact hiring, termination, leave of absence processes in order to maintain compliance and create/update standard work, forms and mandatory postings.
  • Complete Unemployment Claim Forms
  • Partner with HRBP’s at the Charlotte site to execute on various employee events including service and recognition award programs, Veterans’ Day celebrations, engagement survey for hourly employees, flu shots, company picnics, and community outreach.
  • Run attendance reporting for auditing purposes and communicate to leadership team & HRBP’s.
  • Owns process improvements with in scope of role & development of best practices.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Labor Relations, Human Resources or a related field
  • 2 years of experience as an HR Coordinator or like role that required
  • the oversight of a process or a team, a high degree of accuracy, sense of urgency, strong time management & organizational skills, confidentiality, problem solving and customer focus
  • exposure to federal laws that govern hiring practices, leave administration, file management and employment (ex. ADA, FMLA, FCRA, ICRA, HIPPA, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power point, and Excel required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Labor Relations, Human Resources or a related field
  • 5+ years’ experience working in a HR Coordinator role, in a fast-paced, dynamic organization across multi sites
  • Experience with E-verify, ADP, WorkDay, or some other HRIS system
  • Ability to type 40+ wpm strongly preferred
  • Prior experience working across multiple job functions
