Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing processes with a primary focus on CNC machining operations, setup optimization, tooling, programming support, and continuous improvement initiatives. He/She role partners closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to improve productivity, reduce costs, enhance product quality, and ensure regulatory compliance within a medical device manufacturing
environment.


The Manufacturing Engineer II will provide technical support for CNC machining processes, including machine setup optimization, tooling selection and validation, process development, troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and implementation of process improvements. The role requires strong technical knowledge of machining principles, manufacturing processes, fixtures, tooling, and lean manufacturing concepts.

Candidate must reside within a commutable distance to Thousand Oaks, CA. This is not a hybrid or remote opportunity and requires onsite presence 5 days per week.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support CNC machining operations through process development, optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop, document, and maintain CNC manufacturing processes, setup sheets, work instructions, tooling requirements, and standardized operating procedures.
  • Collaborates with CNC programmers and machinists to optimize machining programs, improve cycle times, reduce setup times, and enhance process capability.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical fields.
  • 2-4 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a machining or manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting CNC machining operations.
  • Experience developing and optimizing machining processes for precision components.
  • Experience working with CNC setups, tooling, work-holding, and process troubleshooting.
  • Experience creating or modifying CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing process validation and documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certifications, desireable.
  • Proven experience with tool design preferred.
  • CNC programming working knowledge or experience, preferred.
  • Minitab experience, preferred.
  • Proven experience with tool design, preferred.
