JOB SUMMARY:

The Technical Product Owner owns the backlog and day-to-day delivery decisions for the DEXIS 2D imaging and IoT platform across cloud, device, and edge products. Working with Product Management, Engineering, UX, Clinical Affairs, Quality, Project Management, and Customer Success, you will translate strategic product direction into clear requirements, user stories, and priorities that enable high-quality, predictable delivery. You are the voice of the customer within the development team — ensuring solutions address the real needs of dentists, specialists, and practice teams.

Product Management owns strategy and roadmap direction; the Technical Product Owner owns backlog execution and sprint priorities.

This is not a hands-on engineering role, but it demands strong technical aptitude. You must be comfortable engaging development teams on system architecture, APIs, integrations, data flows, security, scalability, and architectural tradeoffs — not to design solutions, but to understand how the platform works and make informed prioritization decisions that balance customer value, technical health, and business outcomes.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Backlog and Requirements

  • Own and maintain multiple product backlogs, ensuring epics, user stories, and technical enablers are clearly defined, prioritized, and ready for development with clear business value and acceptance criteria.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for development teams on requirements, priorities, and scope decisions.
  • Lead backlog refinement and participate in sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and stand-ups, applying Scrum and scaled Agile practices as appropriate.
  • Partner with Engineering leadership to balance business outcomes, technical needs, and delivery timelines.

Customer and Clinical Focus

  • Represent the voice of the customer throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Develop requirements grounded in customer research, workflow analysis, user feedback, analytics, and market insight.
  • Advocate for usability, workflow efficiency, and solutions that fit real clinical practice.

Product Definition and Validation

  • Create personas, user stories, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, and functional specifications that communicate requirements clearly.
  • Define and validate acceptance criteria for new features and enhancements.
  • Support customer evaluations, beta programs, pilot deployments, and validation activities, incorporating feedback into the backlog.

Cross-Functional Delivery and Improvement

  • Collaborate across Engineering, UX, Product Management, Clinical, Quality, Regulatory, Sales, Marketing, Project Management, and Customer Success to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Support release planning, readiness reviews, launch activities, and the product documentation, training, and release communications that go with them.
  • Monitor product performance, customer feedback, and adoption metrics to identify opportunities for enhancement.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of product, delivery, and Agile practices across DEXIS Cloud platforms.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years total product experience.
  • 2-4+ years of experience in platform, API, or developer-facing products.
  • Demonstrable experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in a software or SaaS environment.
  • Ability to understand and discuss software architecture, cloud platforms, APIs, integrations, security, scalability, and implementation tradeoffs with engineering teams.
  • Experience with Agile teams and product backlogs in Jira or similar tools, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Strong experience defining KPIs, writing user stories, and creating acceptance criteria and functional requirements.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to balance customer needs, business priorities, and technical considerations.
  • Experience working across Engineering, UX, Quality, Clinical Affairs, Project Management, and customer-facing functions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Cloud-based software products and platforms.
  • Healthcare, dental, medical imaging, or regulated software environments.
  • Elements of SAFe or scaled Agile frameworks (e.g., PI Planning).
  • UX design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
  • Product analytics, A/B testing, and data-driven product development.
  • Beta programs, pilot deployments, or customer validation activities.
