Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Buyer/Planner I to support inventory and production planning in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing purchase orders and production work orders based on demand signals and forecasts, while coordinating closely with cross-site partners to ensure material availability and operational continuity. The ideal candidate leverages data and system insights to adjust procurement settings, respond to changing demand, and support key operational processes. You will play a critical role in driving supply chain efficiency, supporting KPI reporting, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall operational performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under supervision, places inventory Purchase Orders (PO) based on e-Kanban signal and business demand and forecast.
  • Releases production work orders based on forecast received from remote sites.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with the site and other sites (domestic and international) on changes in demand and forecast and makes appropriate adjustments in procurement settings based on shelf life and lead time.
  • Attends daily key performance indicator (KPI) site meetings for every department and is prepared to report on assigned action items.
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement activities including but not limited to Kaizen and 5S events, Problem Solving Process, Value Stream Mapping, and Transaction Process Improvement.
  • Supports the facilitation of annual physical inventory.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures including safety and quality.
  • Travels up to 10% domestically and potentially internationally.

Job requirements

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in planning, purchasing, supply chain, or manufacturing support
  • Direct experience working in an ERP system (Oracle, SAP, or equivalent) 
  • Must reside within a commutable distance to Pomona, CA. This is not a hybrid or remote opportunity.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Proficient analytical and mathematical skills are required.
  • Familiarity with purchase order management, production scheduling / work order release, and Inventory control / replenishment highly preferred
  • APICS Certification is highly preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel (Intermediate) required.
  • Familiarity with MRP, CRP, and MPS is required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English required.
  • Ability to build and maintain good rapport with others required.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to follow problem-solving processes required.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Basic knowledge in lean concepts/tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kanban and Kaizen is highly preferred.
