Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Must reside within a commutable distance to both Brea, CA and Irvine, CA, as the office location will be relocated from Brea to Irvine in approximately Q1 2028. This is not a hybrid or remote opportunity and requires onsite presence 4 days per week.

The Director, SAP Order-to-Cash Solution Architecture serves as Envista's enterprise design authority for the end-to-end SAP order-to-cash landscape, anchored in Sales and Distribution (SD), Logistics Execution (LE), and Service Management (SM), with architecture accountability across finance, supply chain, master data, integration, and digital platforms.

This is an architecture leadership role, not a hands-on configuration role. The position sets target-state design direction, establishes architecture principles and standards, leads architects and functional resources, chairs design governance, and holds the Managed Service Provider (MSP) and system integrators accountable for solution quality, clean-core alignment, controls, and delivery outcomes.

The role partners with Sales, Finance, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Internal Audit, IT Compliance, and IT executive leadership to translate business strategy into scalable SAP solutions, advance the multi-year O2C and S/4HANA roadmap, rationalize a complex multi-brand and multi-country landscape, and build the business case, cost, and risk view for major architecture investments.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Solution Architecture & Design Authority

  • Serve as Envista's design authority for SAP O2C architecture, setting principles, patterns, and standards across SD, LE, and SM and their integration with FI-AR, MM, WM/EWM, MDG, and related platforms
  • Define the target-state, end-to-end architecture across brands and regions, balancing global standardization with country-specific requirements including tax determination, electronic invoicing, and output formats
  • Chair the architecture review process; approve solution designs, fit-gap outcomes, and significant change requests; and govern extensions, custom code, and side-by-side development in line with clean-core principles
  • Own integration architecture across EDI and IDOC, APIs, SAP BTP and Integration Suite, CPQ and digital ordering platforms, third-party logistics and carrier connections, and downstream analytics
  • Establish architecture and governance standards for customer, material, and pricing master data, including the role of SAP MDG
  • Translate commercial and operational strategy into architecture direction and clearly communicate design trade-offs, risks, investment needs, and recommendations to senior leadership and steering committees

S/4HANA Transformation, Roadmap & Landscape Rationalization

  • Own the multi-year O2C and adjacent-domain architecture roadmap aligned with commercial and digital strategy, prioritizing harmonization, simplification, scalability, and clean core
  • Provide architecture leadership for S/4HANA programs from blueprint through hypercare, including design decisions, data migration and cutover approach, integration readiness, and release acceptance
  • Lead acquisition integration architecture by assessing acquired-company configurations, determining harmonization versus coexistence approaches, and defining scalable integration patterns into the Envista landscape
  • Drive cross-brand and cross-region standardization by identifying configuration variations, legacy designs, and local exceptions and directing sustainable remediation
  • Build business cases and cost, benefit, and risk views for major architecture investments and present recommendations to senior leadership and governance forums
  • undefined

MSP, AMS & Delivery Governance

  • Act as the architecture escalation authority for high-severity incidents, root cause analysis, complex enhancements, and cross-domain design issues affecting O2C
  • Define and enforce service-level, architecture, quality, and documentation standards; lead governance reviews; and provide architecture input into partner statements of work, resourcing, and commercial performance
  • Set design and delivery priorities for MSP and system integrator resources, review work outputs, and hold partners accountable for quality, controls, service performance, and outcomes
  • Oversee test strategy, user acceptance testing, release readiness, and sign-off for O2C-impacting changes before deployment
  • Drive continuous improvement to reduce manual workarounds and improve order cycle time, service fulfillment, and straight-through processing

Team Leadership & Architecture Practice

  • Lead, coach, and develop solution architects, functional leads, business analysts, and partner resources supporting the O2C domain
  • Build and mature the architecture practice through reference models, architecture decision records, process and integration documentation, standards, training materials, and reusable design patterns
  • Clarify decision rights and ways of working across internal teams, the MSP, system integrators, and business stakeholders
  • Build organizational capability by developing architecture talent, strengthening succession depth, and promoting consistent design and governance practices

Controls, SOX & Audit Readiness

  • Embed SOX, revenue recognition, internal control, and audit requirements into solution architecture and design rather than retrofitting controls after implementation
  • Maintain disciplined change management, including change freezes around period-close and audit windows, and ensure complete, audit-ready documentation for O2C-impacting changes
  • Partner with Internal Audit, the SOX program, and IT Compliance on walkthroughs, control testing, remediation, and ongoing audit readiness
  • Support GxP validation for applicable O2C-related changes, including IQ, OQ, and PQ protocols and change control documentation

Job requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of SAP experience, including 8+ years in solution architecture or senior functional leadership roles
  • Deep O2C expertise across SD, LE, and SM, with working breadth across FI-AR, MM, WM/EWM, master data, and adjacent fulfillment processes
  • Architecture leadership on at least two full-cycle SAP implementations, including at least one S/4HANA implementation; Private Cloud Edition or on-premise experience preferred
  • Proven integration architecture experience across SAP and non-SAP platforms, including EDI, IDOC, APIs, and SAP BTP or comparable middleware
  • Proven experience governing SAP delivery in a managed services model, including setting direction, reviewing work, and holding partners accountable without performing configuration directly
  • Experience in complex, multi-entity, multi-country SAP environments, ideally including EMEA, APAC, or Latin America requirements
  • Working knowledge of SOX, revenue recognition, change management, and audit requirements as they apply to ERP
  • Demonstrated people leadership, including developing architects and functional leads across employee and partner teams
  • Strong executive communication, influence, financial acumen, and stakeholder management skills

REQUIRED FUNCTIONAL EXPERTISE:

  • Order-to-Cash Core: SAP SD order management, pricing and conditions, billing, credit and risk management, rebate processing, intercompany sales, output determination, partner functions, and customer master governance; SAP LE delivery, picking and packing, goods issue, shipment execution, transportation planning, and proof of delivery; and SAP SM service orders and contracts, warranty processing, repairs and returns, service notifications, and resource-related billing.
  • Finance, Revenue & Compliance: FI-AR integration, customer master, payment terms, dunning, cash application, revenue recognition, tax determination, country e-invoicing mandates, SOX controls by design, change management, GxP validation, and audit readiness.
  • Supply Chain, Master Data & Integration: Integration with MM, WM/EWM, transportation management, third-party logistics and carrier platforms; customer, material, and pricing data architecture and governance; EDI, IDOC, APIs, SAP BTP and Integration Suite; CPQ and digital ordering platforms; Fiori; and embedded analytics.
  • Architecture & Transformation Leadership: Target-state architecture, clean-core strategy, architecture review and decision governance, fit-gap leadership, data migration and cutover planning, acquisition integration, roadmap ownership, investment cases, and executive-level communication of trade-offs, risks, and recommendations.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in the medical device, dental, or life sciences industry with exposure to GxP validation, FDA regulations, or EU MDR compliance
  • Experience with clean-core strategy and SAP BTP extensibility
  • Familiarity with SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR) or Billing and Revenue Innovation Management (BRIM), SAP MDG, and SAP Transportation Management
  • Knowledge of EDI transaction sets 850, 855, 856, and 810 and IDOC monitoring
  • Exposure to SAP CPQ, SAP Commerce, or equivalent digital ordering platforms, as well as Fiori and embedded analytics
  • Acquisition integration experience, including assessment and harmonization of acquired ERP landscapes
  • Prior experience working with a large-scale MSP or AMS partner
  • MBA or advanced degree; SAP certification or enterprise architecture credential such as TOGAF
