Team Lead, CAM Operations (Temporary)

Job Description:

The Team Shift Leader plays a pivotal role in driving production performance and operational excellence within the CAM Operations team. This position is accountable for overseeing all shift-based activities—from task planning and execution to managing workflow priorities and supporting operational assignments. As a key point of coordination, the Team Shift Leader ensures timely and accurate reporting of shift KPIs and production updates to both the Group Manager and Production Manager, promoting alignment and transparency across leadership and functional teams.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead daily production activities in alignment with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate communication across shifts and functions, ensuring timely updates and seamless information flow
  • Report on production and employee performance activities to the Group Manager on a regular basis.
  • Monitor and report production performance, including: delays, On-Time in Full (OTIF), rerouting, first pass yield, machine downtime, and IT system metrics
  • Delegate and prioritize tasks to meet daily production goals while adjusting to order volume fluctuations
  • Champion continuous improvement, actively participating in Kaizen or CI meetings, and embedding operator feedback into process enhancements
  • Review, update, and contribute to SOP documentation, ensuring operational accuracy and alignment with best practices
  • Mentor and develop team members, providing hands-on guidance, onboarding, and cross-training to ensure skill agility and operator confidence
  • Ensure strict adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS), supporting internal and external audits and escalating quality concerns when needed
  • Identify and effectively communicate issues related to machinery, maintenance, IT systems, or equipment calibration — acting swiftly to mitigate risks and ensure uptime
  • Delegate and prioritize tasks to meet daily production goals while adjusting to order volume fluctuations
  • Conduct and document 5S and safety audits, driving workplace standards and contributing to risk-reduction initiatives
  • Collaborate with QA and Group Manager to resolve non-conforming material issues and customer complaints, stopping production when necessary to maintain standards
  • Oversee order queue management, proactively assigning tasks and monitoring throughput across production steps
  • Support special projects, assignments, and improvement initiatives as directed by Production/Operations leadership
  • Attend and participate in Daily Management, Safety Committees, and/or Training events as required
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by Production/Operations leadership.

Job Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Critical Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and practical experience, required
  • Bachelor's degree (four-year undergraduate program), preferred
  • Certificates in CNC-Programming and/or CAD/CAM courses, preferred

Critical Skills/technical know-how:

  • Working knowledge of code programming (Fanuc and/or Heidenhain) and CAD/CAM (Open mind, Delcam), required
  • Advanced knowledge of Hyper-mill & Autodesk, required
  • Advanced knowledge of roughing and finishing tools, required
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Hardware, Network); SAP, required
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Understanding of Envista Business System (EBS) Continuous Improvement methodology, required; CP a plus
  • Sound judgment, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills, required
  • Flexibility to work overtime in response to business needs
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts, including potential changes based on operational requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift)
  • Ability to work autonomously within the established procedures and practices of the department

Critical Experience:

  • More than 5 years of hands-on experience in CAM Operations or CNC machining, specifically with milling machines utilizing by Fanuc, Heidenhain, or Roeders controls, or comparable transferable experience
  • Hands-on experience working with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.)
  • Prior leadership experience, leading small teams or projects, preferred

Target Market Salary Range:

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.

$31.60 – $38.70 per hour
