Engineering Technician

Job Description:

  • Manage the activity of group of engineers to execute the projects sufficiently.
  • Collaborate with project manager, mechanical design engineer, and software group to develop a low-risk and robust machine design.
  • Implement all software for unique projects with a variety of needs (PLC, HMI/SCADA, Servo, Robotics, Vision, Laser, etc.)
  • Provide improvement and sustaining engineering support for existing production lines.
  • Use automated solutions to develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing and inspection processes and procedures.
  • Support and/or perform equipment, process validations and testing to internal procedures.
  • Manage process development engineering support for new product development projects.
  • Initiate equipment modifications to improve productivity and product quality.
  • Work with outside vendors to coordinate the development of manufacturing equipment.
  • Work closely with maintenance department to improve machine reliability/reduce downtime and define equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Assist with procurement.
  • Assist/manage with resolving issues with suppliers. Manage the support with repairing equipment and tooling.
  • Assist with performing process failure mode effects analyses.
  • Work with Operations and outside Vendors to create methods/process to improve capacities with production.
  • Document Cost Savings.
  • Work with management to establish project timeliness, project justification, and budget forecasts.
  • Act as resource for operational departments for materials, equipment and process upgrades.
  • Must demonstrate responsibility for the quality and financial aspects of the company.
  • Pursue and participate in company LEAN initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field or related discipline from an accredited university.
  • 5 years experience of custom automation of manufacturing lines.
  • Experience in the design and support of automation equipment and production lines is required.
  • Experienced in the design and development of fixtures, automation workstations, accounting for work and process flow.
  • Experience with Solid Works or other solid modeling software.
  • Experience and exposure to mainstream manufacturing technologies such as CNC's, 3D prototyping, thermoforming, automation within manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of PLC controls (primarily Allen Bradley CompactLogix & ControlLogix)
  • Basic project management experience.
