Sr. Director, Information Technology ERP – SAP

Job Description:

As the Sr. Director IT, ERP – SAP at Envista, you will lead our ERP strategy and operations for SAP and a few other smaller ERP systems. This role will define the SAP ERP vision, ensuring scalability, alignment with business objectives, and a best‑in‑class digital ecosystem for global operations working closely with our MSP partner. Your leadership will drive digital transformation, process standardization, and operational excellence across the organization.

This role provides a unique opportunity to simplify processes and solutions, unify and rationalize ERP landscapes for our Operating Companies and markets that run on SAP and a few other smaller ERPs, drive digital maturity, and build a scalable foundation for growth. The role will serve as both technical visionary and operational champion—making a direct impact on efficiency, decision-making, and profitability. This is a hybrid role requiring 4 days in the Brea office and 1 day work from home.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Define and execute the ERP roadmap and strategy supporting SAP including migrations, integrations, upgrades, and decommissioning.

  • Oversee ERP governance, ensuring standards for architecture, data quality, security, integration frameworks, and change management.

  • Lead full ERP lifecycle implementations and enhancements—functional design, technical build, QA, deployment, training, and ongoing support across modules (finance, supply chain, manufacturing, HR).

  • Manage cross-functional teams: ERP functional consultants, MSP Team, integration team, solution architects, DevOps team

  • Serve as senior liaison between SAP ERP, IT Business Delivery Partners and business leadership (finance, operations, manufacturing, procurement), driving SAP based innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure alignment of ERP platforms with evolving business models—acquisitions, reorganizations, new markets, regulatory/compliance changes.

  • Own vendor and MSP relationships, SLAs, licensing, and cost optimization for ERP platforms.

  • Drive digital transformation initiatives leveraging ERP as backbone: automation, AI, RPA, advanced analytics.

  • Provide enterprise-level leadership: hiring, mentoring, performance management, budget planning, and forecasting.

  • Maintain SAP industry best practices, risk mitigation plans (DR, resilience, security) and documentation.

  • Strategic thinker with a proven ability to translate business needs into technology-enabled solutions.

  • Executive communicator—comfortable presenting to C‑Suite and Operating Company leadership audiences, balancing technical depth with organizational context.

  • Strong change management acumen, experienced in managing resistance and ensuring adoption across business units.

  • Collaborative leadership, able to build high-performing global SAP ERP teams and manage external partners.

  • Budget oversight experience in multi‑million-dollar ERP portfolios, cost-benefit analysis, ROI justification.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related fields.

  • 10+ years of SAP leadership experience in large-scale, ERP environments.

  • Ideally 15+ years in IT with at least 8–10 years in senior roles managing SAP platforms.

  • Proven track record running, implementing or transforming ERP systems across global operations.

  • Deep knowledge of SAP (ECC, S/4HANA), plus exposure to other ERP systems.

  • Strong understanding of integration methods within ERP systems and to enable interactions with internal and external systems and vendors: APIs, middleware (e.g. Mulesoft), EDI.

  • Familiarity with BI/reporting technologies (Power BI, Tableau) and ERP analytics.

  • Familiar with cloud migrations, SaaS ERP models, hybrid/On‑Prem architecture.

  • Skilled in data governance, master data strategy, and security/compliance for ERP data.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA or Master’s degree preferred.

  • SAP certifications preferred (e.g. SAP ECC, S/4HANA).

  • PMP, Six Sigma, ITIL or equivalent process certifications a plus!

Target Market Salary Range:

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
