Lab Technician Biomechanics

Job Description:

The Lab Technician Biomechanics provides expertise and hands on experience in the field of medical device testing and test model development to support verification activities of newly developed products. He/she is a profound expert in the fields of biomechanics (implementation of new test models and concepts into standard operating procedures). Also he/she ensures an operational laboratory infrastructure (i.e. organization of maintenance and calibration of test equipment).

• Provide expertise in the fields of medical device testing and test model development to support verification activities of newly developed products
• Pro-active communication of results/knowledge with internal stakeholder
• Communicate and discuss the results with the biomechanics SME’s, research and product development.
• Prepare and perform tests according to internal protocol/SOP
• Prepare and perform product and material testing for the support of the product development process
• Prepare and perform product approval tests according to international standards (regulatory application)
• Development of test concepts (i.e. designing of test set-ups, development of new test methods based on biomechanical principles) to verify product requirements.
• Analysis of test results including statistical evaluations and compiling the results in test reports.
• Ensure an operational laboratory infrastructure (i.e. organization of maintenance and calibration)
• Review and optimize existing and implement / establish new SOP’s
• Ensure conformity of lab quality and maintenance system to SOP’s and standards
• Practical experience in conventional machining (milling, drilling and lathe machining)

Job Requirements:

Critical Knowledge and Qualifications:

• Experienced in the field of medical device testing and test model development
• Experience with being part of a interdisciplinary project team
• Knowledge in biomechanics / ISO Standards / GLP
• Is motivated by applied research on medical devices
• Experienced in the use of equipment to produce/modify setups and test samples (milling/drilling/turning)
• Experienced in the field  of optical failure analysis

Critical Experience:

• “Dipl. Techniker/in HF/TS“ (or equivalent) degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or materials science.
• Experience with working in a regulated laboratory environment
• Fluent in German (spoken and written)
• Fluent in English (spoken and written) as an asset
