Warehouse Operation Manager

Job Description:

The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing day-to-day activities of a department within the distribution center. The warehouse Operations Manager will supervise employees under his/her responsibility, as well as support the receiving, manufacturing and distribution areas. This position will require continual communication and will work closely with other management personnel in Operations, Distribution, and Material Planning Teams from various business units.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, schedule, and provide guidance and training to Distribution Associates and Lead assigned to department on the execution of distribution tasks.
  • Ensure the safety of the team by identifying safety concerns, rapidly solving identified safety concerns, and certifying the adherence to all safety standards by the team. Conduct safety incident investigations, reporting, and the related problem-solving process is required.
  • Maintain high quality of work standards as well as compliance to good manufacturing practices.
  • Oversee and ensure the maintenance of warehouse daily management.
  • Lead annual physical inventory when required
  • Lead all functions and policies related to annual physical inventory exemption (i.e. Quarterly exemption form reporting, EY Audits, etc.)
  • Understand material and information flow in all processes and how it relates to Oracle, Voxware, and other ERP systems and related technologies (i.e. receiving, picking, shipping, and manufacturing).
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues as related to inventory accuracy in collaboration with related department leads, supervisors, and managers.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Work, and 5s are properly followed.
  • Perform a variety of miscellaneous tasks as required from time to time by management representatives.
  • Oversee and maintain cycle count programs as related to Pomona Distribution Center Operations.
  • Conductance of the cycle count program, physical inventory coordination, inventory variance research, inventory variance adjustment approvals, and reconciliation through Oracle system and paperwork trails as required.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily activities related to their department i.e. PSR, Short shipment, Special requests from all groups, W/O scanning and/or other activities as directed.
  • Oversee and Coordinate scrap, exit, and obsolescence (EO) activities with Distribution, materials and finance groups as related to Europe Operations.
  • Communicate and coordinate inventory activities with cycle counters from other sites (i.e. Merida, Scafati, Spofa, Pomona), manufacturing leads, and distribution.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Manufacturing, Transportation & logistics, Supply Chain, Customer service) to ensure smooth material and product flow.
  • Ensure the continuous training, development, and professional growth of direct reports.
  • Ensure the timely completion of all master control trainings scheduled for the team.
  • Maintain attendance records and vacation request approvals of direct reports.
  • Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, quality, creativity, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation and teamwork between departments and business units.
  • Lead through EBS (Envista Business Systems) and CIRCLe (Customer Centricity, Innovation, Respect, Continuous Improvement, Leadership)
  • Meet department cost/budget objectives.
  • Able to perform duties and responsibilities in the most appropriate and effective manner (e.g., lifting, counting, use of Oracle and Voxware, documenting, cleaning, and organizing the working area)
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

    Education/Experience:

    • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, or Business preferred.
    • 3-5 years of Inventory Control, Materials, and warehouse experience required.
    • Good knowledge and understanding of Oracle Inventory, Work in Process, Manufacturing, Shipping and Oracle WMS functions.
    • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Knowledge and application of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) while investigating inventory issues
    • Knowledge and application of Lean and continuous improvement principles.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment within established guidelines.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written formats
    • Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
    • Strong executive management and leadership skills.  Proven record of successful program design, implementation and enforcement. 
    • Must possess excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with top management, corporate legal personnel and external contacts with regulatory agencies.  Strong decision-making abilities
